The Amazing Smell of Australia Perfume Plants
There is a strong belief among many people who are native to Australia but do not have beautiful perfume. A walk through the jungle that is easily dispelled rumors.

The fragrance of crushed leaves and scented flowers can be almost overwhelming at times. But many of the natives have a more subtle fragrance, you have to be near them at the right time to appreciate the flavors and aromas.

Perfume of native plants is often produced at different times of day or night. Fragrant native flowers include many of the Greville (some like biternata GG G. buxifolia and have a strong scent of honey-like others as G. buxifolia has a fragrant perfume of light), Boronia (eg, B. floribunda, B . megastigma and B. serrulata) Sowerbaeas (Vanilla Lilies) Xanthoreas (grass trees), Banksia, Eleaocarpus reticulatus (Blueberry Ash), which almost has a strong aroma of anise, Hakeas, Pittosporum undulatum (Native Daphne) - Perfume of this kind can be overwhelming in the evening - Leptospermum species (eg L. flavescens) Homoranthus species (which has an aroma oven biscuits) and Hymenosporum flavum (Native Frangipani). Many of the white flowers Eucalyptus, Melaleuca and Callistemon species have a strong scent of honey.

Several fragrant Dendrobium orchids in particular the species: they tend to be stronger from early morning to early afternoon. While some species like Cymbidium C. soft have a good perfume for half the day). The Sarcochilus species have what is best described as a spicy aroma.

The aroma released by the foliage of some plants is not revealed until it has been altered, crushed or brushed against. These include Backhousia citriodora (Lemon Myrtle), which is probably the best of all the native flavors of lemon and is also used commercially as an ingredient for cooking, while the foliage of B. anisate is strongly scented like anise, Eremophila, Eriostemon species Prosantheras,

Leptospermum petersoni (lemon-scented tea tree - also a good plant cover), hothandsjc citriodora (a slight lemon flavor) and some Melaleuca (Paperbarks) also have aromas.

Of course, no one can forget his famous family with eucalyptus scent of eucalyptus, which reminds of our bushes. But now many countries are increasingly vast plantations for timber, firewood and revegetation programs on every continent bar Antarctica. One species, E. citriodora lemon emits a strong come-scented eucalyptus, while Agonis flexuosa has a combination of mint and eucalyptus aromas.

Calomeria elegans has been used as a substitute for lavender. Some species of Boronia too strongly scented foliage.

And do not forget the type of grass plants, the lomandra trees and grass, which give a lovely honeyed scent when in bloom.

So why not think about using some fragrant native plants in your garden. Not only do you get the benefit of support to their local environment. But you can also get other benefits such as attracting birds, butterflies and other wildlife to your garden.
