Here are some names you'll surely recognize that could be easy to forget on the day of your fantasy baseball draft. These players can likely be had much later in drafts than in years past, and could really bolster your team with a resurgent season.
Derek Lee, First Base, Chicago Cubs: Lee had a big bounce-back season in 2009, hitting .306 with 35 home runs and 111 RBI, but I'm not sure how many people took notice.

The Baltimore Orioles are coming off a tough 2009 season in which they managed to win just 64 games. They finished the season in the cellar of the American League East, but it's incredibly difficult for the team to compete with the likes of the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. The Orioles are not in a financial position to compete with the big payrolls of their division rivals, so they have to generally build their club from within.

The Detroit Tigers weren't the 2009 World Series Champions, but now they have one on their team. After much speculation, the Tigers have signed outfielder Johnny Damon. He spent the last four seasons with the New York Yankees, winning a World Series last season. The Tigers signed him to a one-year deal worth $8 million, according to ESPN. Along with his fielding abilities, Damon is also a left-handed hitter.

After winning World Series titles with both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, outfielder Johnny Damon has moved on to the Detroit Tigers. Signing Damon to a one-year, $8 million contract, the Tigers hope to plug him in as their leadoff hitter after Curtis Granderson was traded to New York. Bringing veteran leadership and a bat that still has a bit of pop in it, Damon will be a solid addition to a team that has the pitching to take them deep into the postseason.

The 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver may not be about the sport of baseball, but that hasn't kept the Boston Red Sox from becoming a theme of the competition. No, snow baseball isn't the latest Olympic sport. Instead, some of the athletes on Team U.S.A. are such die-hard Red Sox fans that they have decided to make their fandom a part of their Olympic experience.

Manny Ramirez announced this week that this will be his last year in Los Angeles, ending an intriguing era in Dodgers baseball that included Ramirez's usual prodigious batting numbers to go along with a horde of controversial actions and comments. From a 50-game suspension for performance enhancing drugs to an unprecedented batting streak in the 2008 playoffs, Ramirez's tenure in Los Angeles has certainly had its peaks and valleys.

Nothing comes easily in the National League East, and the Atlanta Braves know that. The Braves have to compete with the high payrolls of teams like the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies on an annual basis, but always seem to find a way to compete. Last season the Braves managed a solid 86-76 record, good for third in the division. The Mets had a down season, though, and the Braves are going to have to post a better record in 2010 if they want to get back to the postseason.

The Arizona Diamondbacks finished last in a surprisingly competitive NL West last season, following up their 82-80 2008 season with a 70-92 mark in 2009. It's pretty evident that things didn't go right for this club last season, but there is a lot to be hopeful about going into 2010. The D-Backs made some nice offseason moves and should see some development from their young talent.

People outside of the northeast might get tired about hearing about the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry, but there's a reason that it's the most talked-about matchup in sports: they're both competitive teams year in and year out. The 2010 MLB season projects to be no different, as both teams are seen as legitimate World Series contenders, and the two clubs will surely be battling it out for supremacy in the American League East all season long.

Los Angeles Angels or rather The Anaheim, have time and again continued their domination of the Western League of America. All the five divisional titles from the year 2002 up until 2006 have gone their way. It also very funny to note that they have just taken home a single World Series Title. This was achieved in the same year when they got top position in the playoffs of the Wild Card competition.
